Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee and lead their financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the business while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and promoting a positive and collaborative work environment. This role is critical in driving financial performance and cost management, working closely with senior leadership and operations teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Compliance: Lead by example, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental regulations, and company policies. Promote a positive work environment.

Financial Close & Reporting: Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings; prepare accurate financial statements in compliance with IFRS.

Costing & Budgeting: Develop standard costing for materials and collaborate with Operations to create and assess budgets and forecasts.

Inventory & Accounts Management: Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of inventory movements and oversee accounts payable/receivable.

Cash & Risk Management: Oversee cash forecasting and reporting; manage risk assessments and reporting for the division.

Team Leadership: Mentor and lead the accounting team for optimized performance and ensure effective day-to-day accounting processes.

Communication: Serve as the financial liaison between senior leadership and external customers.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA certification is a plus.

Experience: At least 10 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in metals or heavy manufacturing is highly desirable.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency with Oracle or similar accounting/ERP systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations, with expertise in standard costing principles.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

  • Adaptable and flexible, particularly during critical financial reporting periods.
