GEE Group is partnering with a well-established manufacturing facility to find an accomplished Engineering Manager to lead and inspire a dedicated team committed to driving product innovation and operational excellence. This role focuses on managing capital equipment projects, encompassing both customized and standardized equipment solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Project Oversight: Lead a team of seven engineers (3 Controls Engineers and 4 Mechanical Engineers) in managing projects from design to installation, ensuring top-quality, timely results.
- PLC/Controls Expertise: Design, develop, and debug advanced PLC control programs to drive manufacturing efficiency. This includes hands-on work with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and particularly advanced Ladder Logic programming within ControlLogix.
- Automation Development: Program and implement automation systems, integrating HMI and PLCs to enhance the effectiveness of manufacturing processes.
- Strategic Process Standardization: Establish work instructions and standard operating procedures, ensuring the engineering team operates with precision and consistency.
- Quality & Accuracy Assurance: Review the accuracy and feasibility of all drawings and bill of materials, maintaining rigorous quality standards.
- Collaborative Engineering Solutions: Provide expertise across applications, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and safety solutions, ensuring a holistic approach to engineering challenges.
- Design Mastery & Efficiency: Utilize design tools such as SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and AutoCAD to streamline workflows and ensure accuracy in all design aspects.
- Documentation & Knowledge Retention: Drive robust documentation practices to ensure clarity, accountability, and the retention of knowledge across the team.
- Production Alignment & Quality Control: Partner with production management to maintain quality standards and timely project completion.
- Sales & Application Support: Offer engineering expertise and cost projections for Sales to enable accurate quoting and high customer satisfaction.
- Technical Support & R&D: Provide technical support to the service department and customers, while also leading R&D efforts for new products, standardization, and product modularization.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Experience Requirements: 5-8 years of mechanical engineering experience, including hands-on PLC/Controls experience and advanced HMI development.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Ladder Logic programming (especially ControlLogix) and HMI development, with familiarity in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office; ERP system experience (SAP preferred) is a plus.
- Industry Background: Experience in foundry processes is advantageous but not required.
